The rift's most dominate experiences available are dungeon-like horror experiences. But often these experiences are predictable, predetermined, and repetitive. Further, the rift itself is often a solitary experience, even those in the same room can't always see whats their friends are experiencing –let alone participate in it.
God Mode looks to bridge the gap between the isolated Oculus world and the real world.
Here's how it works, the rift player connects to a dedicated server where they willingly put themselves into a dungeon, the goal for them is to navigate through the dungeon and find the hidden prize. Another player, friend or not, connects on their mobile device to the same server. Now both players are in the same digital space, but their viewpoints and abilities are vastly different. While the rift player can but simply run, jump and navigate through the dungeon in search for the goal, the god player gets a bird-eye view of the map, watching their every action in real time. The god player has access to a set of 'God Drops' they can deploy on to the rift player at anytime. Including barriers, swarms of spiders, lava pits, darkness, human-hunting zombies and more.
The end result is something quite unique. You have someone completely engrossed in a virtual world via the rift, while someone at any distance away –completely anonymous to the rifter– is controlling and dictating their experience. As the god player, looking down on a little 3d model in your world, its fascinating to realize that in some ways, that is a real human being and that whatever you drop into the world is for real for the player on the other end.
