Inspiration

Our inspiration for Gobez Talent Trade came from the desire to create a platform that empowers individuals in Ethiopia to share their skills and knowledge with others. We recognized the wealth of talent and expertise in our country and wanted to provide a platform for people to connect, learn, and grow together.

What it does

Gobez Talent Trade is a platform for skill sharing and talent exchange. Users can create and offer courses on various topics, while others can browse and enroll in these courses to learn new skills. The platform facilitates the exchange of knowledge and expertise, empowering users to both teach and learn from each other.

How we built it

We built Gobez Talent Trade using C# and .NET MAUI, along with open-source libraries to speed up our prototyping. Additionally, we used Canva for graphic design tasks. The platform includes both a web application and a mobile app, making it accessible on various devices. We followed an agile approach, allowing us to quickly develop and improve the platform's features. We completed the initial version of the project in just 2-3 hours.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we faced various challenges, including technical limitations, design constraints, and issues related to online collaboration. Overcoming these obstacles demanded creative problem-solving and close teamwork. Despite being a team of only two members and connecting online, we encountered limitations in fully assisting each other and experienced connectivity issues. To address these challenges, we employed strategies such as conducting thorough research, experimenting with different approaches, and maintaining effective communication channels to ensure smooth collaboration despite the distance and connectivity issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have created a user-friendly platform that meets the needs of our community. We developed key features like course creation, enrollment, and payment processing in a short time

What we learned

Through the process of building Gobez Talent Trade, we've learned valuable lessons about software development, project management, and creating useful solutions for society. We've gained insights into user behavior, how to solve real-life problems, and how to identify opportunities that can positively impact our community. These experiences have enhanced our decision-making skills and improved our abilities as developers. We're now better equipped to handle user needs, address societal challenges, and contribute to making our country a better place.

What's next for Gobez Talent Trade

Looking ahead, we have several plans for the future of Gobez Talent Trade. Some of our next steps include expanding the course offerings to cover a wider range of topics relevant to our community. We also plan to implement new features such as interactive learning tools and community forums to enhance user engagement. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with local experts and organizations to create specialized courses that address specific needs within Ethiopia. We're committed to continuously improving the platform to better serve our users and foster a thriving community of learners and educators in Ethiopia.
