Inspiration
GOATiFY was inspired by Gabby Beckford’s PacksLight community, where ambitious women dream big—better habits, stronger bodies, more confidence, and meaningful life upgrades—but often struggle to turn inspiration into daily action.
We noticed a common pattern: motivation is high at the beginning, but progress slows when systems become overwhelming, rigid, or guilt-driven. Most habit apps demand proof, constant tracking, or perfection. We wanted to build something different—an experience that trusts the user, celebrates small wins, and makes progress feel joyful rather than stressful.
What it does
GOATiFY turns big life goals into daily micro-actions through a gamified, trust-based system.
During onboarding, users choose one primary goal, such as:
- Energy & Confidence
- Strength Habits
- Consistency & Momentum
- Mobility & Body Care
- Nourishing Choices
- Calm & Reset
- Self-Mastery
Based on the selected category, users receive simple daily tasks designed to build consistency. When a task is completed, users earn XP points—no proof required. Progress is built on honesty, not pressure.
Users can also edit and personalize tasks to match their own goals and lifestyle, ensuring flexibility and long-term engagement. As users complete tasks, they level up through tiers—from Bronze V to GOAT I—with analytics that show completion trends, streaks, and progress over time.
How we built it
GOATiFY was built as a production-ready Android app with scalability in mind.
Tech stack:
- Frontend: Android KOTLIN XML
- Backend: Firebase + AWS , NODE.JS
- Authentication:GOOGLE OAUTH + SIGN UP
- Database: MONGO DB ATLAS
- Analytics: Custom task completion tracking
- Monetization: RevenueCat + Google Play Subscriptions
RevenueCat handles subscriptions, entitlements, and purchase restoration. Monetization is intentionally delayed—users only encounter the paywall after reaching Gold V, ensuring they experience real value before paying.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a system that balances motivation and monetization without breaking user trust. We had to carefully decide when to introduce subscriptions so they felt earned, not forced.
Another challenge was designing a trust-based completion system without proof while still keeping users engaged and accountable. This required thoughtful UX decisions, analytics visibility, and rewarding feedback loops.
Finally, integrating subscriptions in a hackathon-friendly way—while keeping the app testable for judges—required careful setup using RevenueCat and Google Play testing tracks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully functional, monetized Android app
- Designed a trust-first habit system without proof or guilt
- Implemented tier-based gamification from Bronze V to GOAT I
- Integrated RevenueCat for real subscription handling
- Created an analytics view that reflects real user progress
- Delivered a polished onboarding and user experience
What we learned
This project taught us that progress doesn’t need pressure. Small, consistent actions—when paired with encouragement and fun—are far more powerful than strict systems.
We also learned how to design subscriptions that respect users, how to integrate RevenueCat effectively, and how to align product design with real human behavior rather than assumptions.
What’s next for GOATiFY
