🍽 FoodShare – Reducing Waste, Sharing Hope 🌟 Inspiration

Every year, millions of tons of food go to waste while families struggle with hunger. According to the UN, $\approx 1/3$ of all food produced globally is wasted. This paradox inspired us to create FoodShare, a platform where surplus food from restaurants and households can be instantly redirected to NGOs and recipients who need it most.

We wanted to build not just a website, but a movement—where technology bridges the gap between abundance and need.

🛠 How We Built It

Frontend: Pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring lightweight performance.

Design: Gradient-based modern UI, smooth animations, and responsive layouts.

Features Implemented:

Smooth scrolling navigation

Animated stats counter ($Meals \uparrow$, $Waste \downarrow$)

Intersection Observer API for scroll-triggered animations

Modular sections: Hero, Features, How it Works, Impact, Testimonials, CTA, Footer

We intentionally avoided heavy frameworks to keep it clean, understandable, and portable.

🚧 Challenges Faced

Responsiveness

Ensuring that the design worked seamlessly across devices was tricky. Small screens required rethinking layouts.

Animations

Balancing smooth transitions with performance optimization took multiple iterations.

Data Representation

Representing statistics (like $2.3 , \text{Tons}$ waste reduced) in an engaging way required building a custom counter animation.

Navigation

Designing a simple, intuitive flow for diverse users (donors, NGOs, recipients) was challenging.

📖 The Story

We started with a simple idea: “No food should be wasted if someone is hungry.” From brainstorming sketches on paper to coding late nights, our journey was full of experiments. Initially, the hero section felt too static—so we added SVG-based floating patterns. Stats looked boring—so we made them animate.

Every challenge made FoodShare more interactive, accessible, and meaningful. Today, the project stands as a testament to collaboration, creativity, and compassion.

✨ FoodShare is not just a project, it’s a small step toward a world where technology ensures that no plate is empty while food is wasted.
