Inspiration
Many people struggle to stay consistent with their goals because most productivity and habit-tracking apps provide generic plans that don't fit individual lifestyles. I wanted to create a solution that adapts to each user's unique situation, making it easier to build lasting habits. My goal was to reduce the friction between setting a goal and taking action by generating personalized habit plans based on each user's needs and preferences.
What it does
GoalFlow is a web application that creates personalized habit plans through a simple onboarding survey. Users answer questions about their goals, daily schedule, current habits, and areas they want to improve. Based on these responses, GoalFlow generates a customized set of habits designed to be realistic, achievable, and sustainable. Users can then track their progress and stay accountable as they work toward their goals.
How I built it
I built GoalFlow using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The user interface was designed to be simple and intuitive, allowing users to complete the survey quickly and easily. I used JavaScript to process survey responses and generate personalized habit recommendations. User data and progress are stored locally using Local Storage, enabling a smooth experience without requiring account creation or a backend service.
Challenges I ran into
My biggest challenge was to create de calendar because calendars has a lot of things to have in mind like leap years and make each month start on the day it should and I didn't now that the class Date exists so the first version of the calendar I have to delete it and make it all form scratch with Date which was a lot easier
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Creating a fully functional personalized habit-planning system.
- Designing a clean and user-friendly interface.
- Successfully generating habit recommendations tailored to individual users.
- Building a complete application without relying on external services.
What I learned
Throughout this project, I learned how to design user-centered experiences and translate personal development concepts into software. I improved my skills in JavaScript, local data management, responsive web design, and application architecture. I also gained valuable experience in problem-solving, planning features, and building products that address real-world challenges.
What's next for GoalFlow
My vision for GoalFlow extends beyond simple habit tracking. Future improvements include:
- AI-powered habit recommendations.
- User accounts and cloud synchronization.
- Smart reminders and notifications.
- Progress analytics and habit insights.
- Streak tracking and achievement systems.
- Integration with calendars and productivity tools.
- A mobile application for iOS and Android.
- Community features that allow users to share progress and stay motivated together.
I believe GoalFlow can evolve into a complete personal growth platform that helps people build better habits and achieve their goals more effectively.
