Inspiration

My inspiration for Goal Tracker came from my personal need for a constant reminder of the goals I want to achieve this year. I wanted a system that would not only remind me of my goals but also track my progress and motivate me towards achieving them. The idea was to simplify my goals into step-by-step subtasks that I could easily track. My aim was to end this year on a better note than the last.

What it does

Goal Tracker allows users to input their goals, set a target date, and then receive regular reminders as the date approaches. It also allows users to break down their goals into smaller, manageable subtasks and track their progress.

How we built it

I built Goal Tracker using Adalo, a no-code platform. I started with a template and made modifications to it and its database to suit my needs.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge I faced was integrating Adalo with Zapier. I wanted to set up a push notification feature that would be triggered by date changes. However, this required my app to be published, which it isn't as I need to be on a paid plan in order to publish, so I couldn't get it to work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, I'm proud of having built a functional goal-tracking app that meets my initial requirements. It's a tool that can help users stay focused and motivated towards achieving their goals.

What we learned

Through this project, I learned about the capabilities and limitations of no-code platforms like Adalo, and how to integrate them with other services like Zapier. I also learned about the importance of app design and user experience.

What's next for Goal Tracker

Goal Tracker requires further refinements, particularly in terms of design. The current design lacks the cues that make it memorable and stimulating to users. In terms of functionality, improvements are needed in the handling of notifications and subtasks, among other things. These are the areas I plan to focus on in the next phase of development.
