Inspiration

I fondly remember my first promotion and also how stupid I was not knowing where to start. My manager at that time sat me down and said to me… When you don’t have any clue where to begin and everything seems like a circle, start anywhere, cause wherever you start, the circle starts right there!

The inspiration behind Goal Genius came from recognizing a problem that has persisted in the lives of every human for generations and continues to do so today. The complex process of goal-setting has always posed challenges, and I aimed to provide a solution that simplifies this process and empowers individuals to take actionable steps towards their aspirations.

What it does

Goal Genius is a powerful app that takes a simple goal, understands the root cause and motivation behind the goal and breaks it down into smarter, achievable milestones. It also provides , and offers resources to support users on their journey towards success.

How I built it

Goal Genius follows the Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology of Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control to simplify goal planning...

  1. Goal Categorization: I started by structuring the goal planning process in my mind, considering different aspects such as body, mind, spirit, or willpower.
  2. Self-Assessment: To understand the current status of the user's goal, I asked them to rate themselves on a scale of 0 to 5, which helped gauge their progress and identify any challenges they might be facing.
  3. Root Cause Analysis: By understanding the root cause of their current state of execution, I could better address their challenges.
  4. Setting Smart Goals: Based on the insights gained from the root cause analysis, I formulated simpler goals using the SMART methodology (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound).
  5. Tracking Progress: the next step was to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that could be tracked on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis.
  6. Additional Recommendations: To provide further motivation, I offered recommendations such as relevant videos, books, and other resources.

Challenges I ran into

During the development process, I faced several challenges, such as refining the goal-breaking algorithm to accurately generate meaningful milestones and integrating the personalized recommendation engine. I also encountered design challenges to create an intuitive and visually appealing interface.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud to have created an app that simplifies goal planning and empowers users to take actionable steps towards their dreams. I have had my friends and family try the app and have received a very consistent feedback which is "Everybody knows about it but nobody really talks about it. Goal setting is very personal and this app acts as your personal assistant to customise and break down a goal into achievable tasks"

What we learned

Through the process of developing Goal Genius, I gained valuable insights into the importance of effective goal-setting methodologies and the significance of personalized recommendations.

What's next for Goal Genius by Stay Wannabe

The journey for Goal Genius doesn't end here. In the future, I plan to enhance the app by integrating more advanced techniques, expanding the personalized recommendation engine, and incorporating social features to foster a community of goal achievers, where being a “wannabe” is not just okay—it’s celebrated!

Conclusion

The impact of Goal Genius goes beyond individual users. By empowering individuals to achieve their goals, the app has the potential to create a ripple effect, inspiring and motivating others to pursue their dreams and make positive changes in their own lives. This collective impact can contribute to a more fulfilled and empowered society as a whole.
