Social media app to make people interact, enjoy and help people in halfway house.

Inspiration

This pandemic has been a great strain on society in common. For a time period, underprivileged children went unnoticed. Since the entire world is locked down the homes which took care of underprivileged students lacked funds in general. Keeping the safety of people in mind, this web app will help us to bridge the gap between society and orphan homes. Homes can reach out to help and people can directly get in touch to lend support.

What it does

This website mainly targets two users.

  • Donors People who are interested to donate can directly sign in to the website. They can choose the mode of transaction. Expected donations are in form of money, clothes, food (before expiration). Users can check for the nearby orphans and check the upcoming events and show interest.
  • Home Manager People who run support homes can register themselves on this website providing the required documents and can wait for the admin to acknowledge their registration. Once the home is officially registered, the home managers can access their page. They can
    • enter their requirements
    • add upcoming events
    • accept or reject funds

How we built it

We used some advanced technologies to get a high-quality output We made a SPA (Single page web application) using react.js. For backend, we used node.js and Firebase We also used hosting: firebase Flowchart, Wireframe: Lucidchart Project management: Github projects, git version control

Challenges we ran into

Time management is really a hectic thing for us to develop a good UI with react. As we are beginners in react we faced challenges in making a fully flexible single page web application

Finally we made our Full stack Single page web application using node, react

What we learned

This is the first time we've used firebase, node.js. We really learned a lot by implementing a full stack application using these technology stack

What's next for Go Fund Home

When we first started the project, we didn't restrict this project to materialistic donations only. We know that children in general need career guidance, mental health advice, and a friend to talk with. We aspire to provide these to children in homes. Our future modules will help us to bring society as close as possible to the children at home. People who are interested to provide immaterialistic support to the children can use this interface.
