Elevator Pitch

100 humans. 1 giant gorilla. Pure chaos! We team up with 99 players to topple a colossal boss—or BE the beast. Fast rounds, big laughs, epic battles. The ultimate asymmetric multiplayer showdown!

About the Project

Go Bananas! transforms the viral "100 humans vs 1 gorilla" meme into Horizon Worlds' most ambitious asymmetric multiplayer experience. Once we discovered Horizon Worlds' plan to support up to 100 concurrent players, our vision crystallized: build a social battleground where cooperation meets chaos, and every round delivers unforgettable moments.

From the moment players land in the arena they know exactly what's coming: for humans it's teamwork, strategy and mayhem; for the gorilla it's raw power, cunning tactics and survival. With mobile-first controls and an intuitive UI, we ensure this experience is seamless on mobile devices.

How We Built It

We leveraged leading generative AI tools within Horizon Worlds' Desktop Editor to prototype and iterate gameplay rapidly. GenAI features accelerated environment creation, NPC behavior systems and mesh/texture generation, while custom UI elements ensure smooth and intuitive mobile controls for both human and gorilla players. Our architecture is optimized for mobile performance while supporting massive concurrent player counts.

Challenges We Faced

Balancing asymmetric gameplay aiming for up to 100 players demanded creative strategies and robust technical solutions. We engineered innovative large-scale real-time synchronization systems, optimized mobile rendering, and fine-tuned gameplay loops to fit within the contest's target of short, engaging experiences. Under a compressed timeline we pushed ourselves to deliver a polished prototype that holds up under real-world mobile performance constraints.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

  • Technical mastery — intricate physics-based gameplay mechanics, including the Gorilla's 4 attacks plus the same 4 attacks recreated for first-person Gorilla-mode, each requiring innovative solutions.
  • Social-first design — collaborative laser-cannons that scale with teamwork.
  • Instant hook — players understand objectives in under 20 seconds and engage immediately.
  • Mobile-prioritized experience — smooth controls and fluid gameplay across mobile devices.
  • Delivered a polished, crowd-tested social experience in under a month using publicly available Horizon Worlds tools.

What We Learned

We established a robust development pipeline combining traditional tools with GenAI acceleration—demonstrating that small teams can create AAA-scale social experiences for mobile within the Horizon ecosystem.

What's Next for Go Bananas!

We're expanding the arsenal with more teamwork-based attacks and community-requested weapons (e.g., 3-person grenade slingshot), introducing new progression systems, seasonal boss variants and tournament modes. The community's enthusiasm has been bananas—and we're just getting started!
