Inspiration
We were inspired by stories of people getting their food taken out of dorm fridges and wanted to find a way to ensure everyone could enjoy using the space without worrying about being hungry when other people took their food.
What it does
Users can request fridge cubbies to hold their food. The fridge prompts for a password that can later be used to retrieve the food. Without the password, the fridge compartments cannot be opened.
How I built it
We programmed an Arduino to control rotation and locking and built a cardboard and duct tape prototype.
Challenges I ran into
Never having used an arduino or done any hardware programming before, storing and accessing passwords
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Successfully overcoming our challenges, building a working structure.
What I learned
How to use an arduino
What's next for gNOMes and chill
A working website (we have one; it just doesn't connect to the arduino yet) that can allow users to make reservations, sensor control for better rotation control.
Built With
- arduino
- cardboard
- duct-tape
