Inspiration
We took inspiration from the show, The Goodplace. This show follows the story of people in hell (because of their misdeeds) unaware of how their small unseemingly harmful actions affected the greater scheme of things. This show emphasizes the importance of being informed about our decisions, choices, and knowledge. Therefore want to increase awareness of how our everyday choices affect the earth. Through Gnoceipt, we wanted to encourage the use of sustainable products and packaging, reduce the thermal paper, and move away from the use of harmful packaging, practices, and more.
What it does
Gnoceipt encourages the use of sustainable products and packaging by checking products through uploaded receipts, informing users about the sustainability of their purchases, and giving reasonable alternatives. Gnoceipt informs and can answer quesetions about purchases through a chatbot. Gnoceipt also takes away the need for physical receipts by providing a digital receipt book.
How we built it
We brainstormed our ideas on pen and paper, created an outline and prototype on Figma, then used HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, and Adobe to build an interactive UI. We also used MongoDB, Python, and Gemini API to manage our backend hosted on a Flask web application.
Challenges we ran into
The navigation bar functionality was challenging to figure out Managing multiple nested components Creating divs for the chatbots Developing a cohesive UI design animating in javascript/jquery tweaking out at 4 am

What's next for Gnoceipt
Partnering with larger companies to promote coupons that support sustainable living and move away from the use of thermal papers, which are not recyclable or compostable. We would also like to include more information about sustainable practices throughout the app and make the game aspect more appealing.
