Inspiration
AWS inspired us by providing the idea. While we may not have had the technical experience to implement AI into it, we wanted to create a good starting ground for an AI implementation to take place.
What it does
Currently, it will give out answers to specific keywords in a chat based on specific actions one might take in certain buildings or based on specific pages.
How we built it
We built it using Django as a jumping-off point for the web application. By creating a chatting application working on a single end with pre-generated responses, we could simulate "talking" to a Chatbot for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), since we weren't sure about how to implement AI in our project given the time restraints of the hackathon.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into were the placement of images and successfully getting many of the pre-generated responses to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made a chatbot and this was the first hackathon that we attended.
What we learned
We learned how to use GitHub collaboratively, how to bounce ideas off of each other, and we learned how to program chat rooms in Django.
What's next for GMUHackatonChatbot
We plan to add a generative AI implementation for non-preprogrammed answers.
