Glypha

What it does

Glypha is a custom alphabet builder and personal writing system app that allows users to create their own unique symbols mapped from standard inputs (A–Z and 1–9). These symbols form a personalized writing system that can be used to write private notes, ideas, and messages that are visually understandable only to the creator. The main goal of Glypha is to combine privacy, creativity, and self-expression in one tool. It transforms normal text into a unique symbolic system, enabling users to communicate and store information in a more personal and secure way.

How we built it

We used MeDo as an AI development partner throughout the entire process of building Glypha. MeDo was not just a tool, but a product-thinking assistant that helped shape the idea, structure the system, and guide the user experience from concept to execution. The application was broken into clear modules: 1.Custom Alphabet Builder for designing symbols mapped to A–Z and 1–9 2.Symbol Keyboard for real-time typing using the custom writing system 3.Notes System for writing and storing messages using the created alphabet MeDo helped refine the full architecture, define the interaction between components, and improve usability so that even a complex idea like building a personal writing system feels simple and intuitive. It also helped iterate on the design of how users create, manage, and immediately use their symbols in real-time writing.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing a system that allows users to create and manage custom symbols without confusion, especially while supporting both letters (A–Z) and numbers (1–9). Another challenge was ensuring perfect consistency between the alphabet builder, keyboard, and notes system so everything works seamlessly together. We also had to simplify the user experience so that switching between designing symbols and writing with them feels natural and not overwhelming. Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully built a complete system where users can design a full personal alphabet and instantly use it in real-time writing. The most impressive achievement is the real-time symbol keyboard integrated directly into the notes system, allowing users to seamlessly write in their own custom alphabet without switching tools. We are also proud of turning a complex idea into a clean, usable, and structured product that balances privacy, creativity, and usability.

What we learned

We learned that powerful systems do not need to feel complicated. Even though Glypha is built around a complex idea (creating a full writing system), the user experience must remain simple and intuitive. We also learned how impactful AI tools like MeDo can be in product development. MeDo significantly accelerated the process by helping structure ideas, improve UX decisions, and transform a raw concept into a fully planned and buildable application.

What's next for Glypha

Future improvements for Glypha include: Cloud syncing for saving alphabets across devices Sharing custom alphabets between users Advanced symbol editing tools for deeper customization Smarter keyboard organization for better usability These improvements aim to make Glypha a more powerful, social, and scalable personal writing system.

Impact of MeDo

MeDo played a crucial role in transforming Glypha from a raw idea into a structured and functional application. It acted as a design partner, UX advisor, and system architect, helping shape both the product logic and user experience. Without MeDo, the process would have taken significantly longer and would not have reached the same level of clarity, structure, and usability.
