Rising levels of obesity all around the world is resulting in the prevalence of many diseases. Our app,

• Encourages healthier eating habits
• Makes consumers more inclined to buy healthier items
• Reduces the impact of false advertising by companies

How it works 🔧🔨

• Scrapes the webpage to find product details (Currently only on Amazon)
• Uses the FDA data base to search for nutrients in product
• Displays the data in a simple-to-understand and wholesome manner

Challenges we ran into 😵‍💫

• Communicating with teammates over different timezones
• Learning JavaSript
• Making so many features in a limited amount of time

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆

• Made our first chrome extension!!!
• Learned a bit of JavaScript
• Managed to learn to use GitHub properly

What we learned 📚

• We need to use a proper task delegation software 😓
• Recruit people with a variety of skills (All of us are back-end coders 🥲)

What's next for AvocadoBro

• Integration with more platforms
• A wider variety of messages
• Better Graphics
• Dashboard with statistics on how many times the user chose healthier food
• Gamification fetures
• Potentially helping people with their diets using AI. By showing foods which match their dietary requirements. Could help people with allergies as well.

Timeline

End-Apr -> The Calculations would be perfected and a graphic designer would have been found

End-May -> The Dashboard and some gamification features to be complete

End-June -> Publish on the chrome web store and ask users for feedback.

End-Jul -> Integration with other platforms complete

Aug-Sep -> Improve graphics with the graphics designer

Post-Sep -> Monetising/grants so that we can reach more people and continue operating
