Skincare decisions rarely happen in the abstract — they happen right before a purchase, standing in a store aisle or scrolling a product page, wondering what your skin actually needs. GlowRoutine turns a YouCam Skin AI analysis into a personal routine and a priced shopping list, so the answer is specific to your skin, not a generic bestseller list.

What it does

Take a selfie and GlowRoutine sends it to the YouCam Skin AI API. An agent reads the returned scores, picks products that match your top concerns, sequences them into an AM/PM routine with correct layering rules, and fits the whole list to your monthly budget — returning a priced shopping list with a plain-English reason per product. For example: "Pores 74/100 and breakouts 69/100 — BHA is the ingredient with the evidence here."

Layering safety is encoded in the agent: retinal and BHA never share a night, SPF is never dropped by the budget fitter, and if your budget is below the cost of the essential core, the agent says so instead of silently cutting corners.

How we built it

Server-to-server REST against the YouCam Skin AI API: upload the photo (POST /file/skin-analyze), start a task (POST /task/skin-analyze) requesting skin_age, skin_oiliness, skin_moisture, wrinkle, pore, spot, dark_circle, acne, firmness, radiance, and redness, then poll to completion and normalize the scores into a concern model. Those scores are the agent's only source of truth about your skin. The app itself is zero-dependency Node.js with vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, and the routine agent is deterministic and explainable — every recommendation carries its reason.
