Inspiration
My teammate and I realized there is a need for young kids to gain exposure to music. However, many kids don’t have easy access to a wide array of musical instruments, and online instruments generally lack a tangible connection to the music. Our project allows young kids to explore music while preserving the act of playing an instrument using our hands.
What it does
It's a smart glove that allows users to play different tunes and melodies, by just moving their fingers!
How I built it
We built this project using tinkerdCAD. We utilized ping sensors, buzzers, and wires online!
Challenges I ran into
TinkerCAD has a delayed response to our movements of the distance; thus the change in notes tends to occur after a lag time. If this was to be done in real life, it would be more seamless.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting four separate ping sensors to co-operate to generate meaningful melodies!
What I learned
How to use tinkerCAD and how to harmonize different input sensors to one output source. We also were able to gain a basic understanding of how to create hardware and code in tinkerCAD.
What's next for GloveSmart: Making Music Easy
When we are back on campus, we want to try to make a physical version of this idea and remove some of the errors we experienced creating it online!
