Inspiration

The neck should not be a load-bearing part of your body. Why put yourself in the pain of putting your neck under strain when your arm is broken?

What it does

Our product helps you reduce neck pain when using an arm sling. By customising it to each person's arm, we hope to give you the best comfort while your arm is broken.

How we built it

By first creating a model in Fusion 360, we used its parameterizing capabilities to create a model that is able to change on the fly, therefore customizing the product for all customers.

Challenges we ran into

Accounting for different stomach sizes and hand sizes was a painful experience as everyone has different stomach and hand profiles.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to design an algorithm to design a cast to fit people of all shapes and sizes.

What we learned

We cannot parameterize with splines, and we cannot use high technology to solve every problem. For example, while using AR to measure hand sizes works, it is often less reliable than the humble vernier callipers.
