Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea of an AI assistant or guide that could perform anything you might need on a trip.
What it does
This allows you to search for specific locations and responds by giving suggested landmarks to visit using AI. You can look more closely at these suggestions and the app provides you with AI generated descriptions.
How we built it
We built the app for iPhone using Swift 5 in Xcode. We also incorporated multiple AI api's including GPT 3.5-4 and openAI, as well as rapidAPI.
Challenges we ran into
One of the challeges that arose during the project was the lack of planning. Using ChatGPT to aid our coding, allowed us to get started incredibly fast, however it meant that later on the velocity of our progress slowed considerably, due to not having planned out far.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Seeing the app work on our phone was satisfying enough. Considering our team size of 2 and the number of different AI related features we include, I think we did exceptionally well with our time.
What we learned
First and foremost we gained experience with the Swift language and several AI APIs for it. In addition, we gained a better understanding of the thoughtfulness behind the scenes required to implement AI in an effective way.
What's next for Globetrotter's Guide
For the moment, we are satisfied with this demonstration of our concept
