Inspiration
"As a 60-year-old entrepreneur transitioning from real estate to AI, I wanted to build something that proves voice interfaces can be as natural and engaging as a human partner."
What it does
"Globe Trotter is a high-speed travel guessing game that uses Gemini 3.1 Flash to create a proactive, conversational experience that works seamlessly on mobile."
How we built it
Built with Gemini 3.1 Flash and the Google Agent Development Kit (ADK). We used a Python/FastAPI backend on Google Cloud Run with WebSockets for real-time voice and session-affinity for connection stability.
Challenges we ran into
"Synchronizing the game timer with the AI's physical voice and optimizing WebSocket audio for mobile Safari were major technical hurdles that required custom session-affinity and low-latency logic."
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developing a production-ready multimodal agent that proactively engages the player. Successfully transitioning my entrepreneurship from real estate to AI development by deploying a fully functional, mobile-optimized game.
What we learned
Voice AI UX depends on timing and "personality." I mastered low-latency WebSocket management, session state in non-deterministic environments, and secure secret management on Google Cloud.
What's next for Globe Trotter: Live Voice GuesserConversational Education. Expanding the modular ADK logic to create interactive, hands-free tutors for kids, where they can practice subjects or languages through immersive, proactive dialogue with AI.
