Inspiration

As international students ourselves, we have experienced the challenges and struggles that come with studying abroad. That's why we're excited to propose a user-friendly web platform that will provide international students with the support and resources they need to succeed.

What it does

The platform will consist of four main components: academics, cultural events, social networking, and logistical support. Additionally, we will include a chatbox powered by the 'Power Virtual Agents' API in the future to answer common questions from international students. Our aim is to create an engaging, informative, and welcoming platform that will benefit anyone who is, has been, or plans to study abroad.

How we built it

To build our platform, we began by creating a lo-fi draft to outline the general structure and features we wanted to include. Once we had a solid foundation, we moved on to Figma, where we designed a more detailed and visually appealing prototype. With our design in place, we started implementing the actual platform using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development. Throughout the process, our team stayed connected through Zoom, allowing us to communicate effectively and share ideas, progress updates, and challenges.

Challenges we ran into

During the creation of GlobalCampusIE, our team came across several hurdles. Merging different aspects, like the chatbot, dashboard, and social media links, turned out to be quite tricky. On top of that, we stumbled upon a few bugs here and there, which needed some serious detective work and smart thinking to fix. Despite these challenges, our team stayed committed and worked together to tackle these issues, as we can collaborate seamlessly and adapt to various situations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of what we've achieved with GlobalCampusIE so far. Our team has worked together to build an easy-to-use platform that brings academic and medical support to our users. We've grown as a team, listened to feedback, and made sure to prioritize the privacy of our users. All of this shows our dedication to creating a truly helpful and enjoyable experience for everyone who visits our platform.

What we learned

Throughout the development of GlobalCampusIE, our team has gained valuable insights about user experience, engagement, and security. We've learned the importance of effective communication, collaboration, and adaptability in order to address the platform's bugs and improve its overall functionality. Our experiences have reinforced the significance of teamwork, as we've come to understand that leveraging individual strengths and skills contributes to the platform's success and helps us better serve our users.

What's next for GlobalCampusIE

GlobalCampusIE is set to improve its platform with chatbot integration, social media connectivity, and user data storage. Implementing a chatbot will enhance user experience, while social media links will encourage content sharing and user interaction. Prioritizing secure data storage will ensure a safe learning environment. These updates will strengthen GlobalCampusIE's standing as a user-friendly edtech platform.
