Inspiration
I am hugely passionate about making blockchain benefits accessible to all - as I am personally aware of how complicated it can be. With the recent unlocks of XRPL being EVM compatible, it means that we can take one of XRP's key advantages (cross border payments), and bridge commonly used stable coins from Ethereum so that users can use a currency they understand like USDC.
What it does
Global Wallet is an app that lets you hold, transfer and convert your currencies. This means that if a user wants to transfer their USD into EUR they can do that via stable coins. This will result in big savings and efficiencies for the customer compared to the traditional bank way.
How we built it
Using React Native and XRPL
Challenges we ran into
I was having difficulties implementing USDC bridging in time for the deadline. I hope to achieve this soon as documentation gets improved for XRPL/EVM.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really proud to have came up with this idea as I think it can have a big financial impact on a lot of people, especially those with less developed banking systems. I'm very happy with the UI, and the demo content too.
What we learned
This was my first React Native application. I also learnt a lot about bridging USDC to XRPL - while I was not able to successfully complete this in time, it was a fun learning curve.
What's next for Global Wallet
To successfully bridge USDC and handle basic wallet functionality (deposit, withdraw etc.) After this I want to be able to convert stable coins into each other using a decentralised exchange Then finally I would love to be able to on ramp and off ramp customers, truly making this a project that is accessible for all
