Inspiration

When it was discovered that many innovators and non-profit organizations (NPOs) have trouble connecting with one another to address urgent global issues, the concept for the Global Synergy Network was born. Understanding that encouraging cooperation and resource sharing among NPOs, professionals, and innovators considerably increases the overall impact on the most difficult challenges in the world made it clear that the network would have a great impact for the greater good of everyone.

What it does

The Global Synergy Network serves as a comprehensive platform that facilitates collaboration, innovation, and resource-sharing between non-profit organizations, innovators, experts, and other stakeholders working to address global challenges.

Key features of the platform include:

Problem Database: Users can explore and contribute to a curated database of global issues, providing a comprehensive overview of the challenges that need to be addressed. Collaboration Spaces: The platform offers dedicated spaces for users to connect, discuss, and work on projects together, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Expert Finder: This feature has 2 sides, Organization side and a Innovator side. Innovators can post their info, such as their specialization, experience, contact info, etc. for organizations to recruit them. On the other hand, Organizations can access the data to see what Innovators are available and their contact info to get in touch. Crowdsourced Solutions: The platform encourages users to submit and vote on innovative ideas and solutions for global challenges, enabling the community to drive the development of impactful projects. Funding Opportunities: Users can access information on various funding options, grants, and resources to help bring their projects to life and scale their impact. By offering these features and fostering a sense of community among its users, the Global Synergy Network aims to empower individuals and organizations to collaborate effectively and drive positive change on a global scale.

How I built it

I used a variety of web technologies and APIs to build the Global Synergy Network, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for the front end and JavaScript and the Google Sheets API for the back end. I used an agile development method, which enabled me to iterate quickly and incorporate user feedback to adapt the platform while maintaining a clean overall aesthetic. Since I was working alone, I made sure to get feedback from those around me frequently so I could have a second set of eyes to look for anything I could have missed.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of the Global Synergy Network, we faced several challenges, including:

Balancing simplicity, functionality, and design: I wanted to create a platform that was easy to use, while still offering a comprehensive set of features for NPOs, innovators, and donors. This required careful consideration of user experience and interface design to ensure that the platform was both intuitive and powerful. Along with those I wanted to keep a very modern clean design with just monotone colors and sleek animation. It was a challenge though to balance the animation and the simplicity of the website. For example, sometimes the animation would be too complex for the simplicity I was aiming for, other times it was too simple and missed the sleek factor.

Solo: I knew going solo was not going to be easy at all, leaving me with front and back end. I still pushed through the challenge. I ended up working a total of 20 hours with little to no breaks in between.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Along the incredible journey, that I was blessed with the opportunity to compete in, I am proud of my handwork and consistency. Working for such a lengthy period of time was a commitment I did not expect myself to make. Alongside the time, the immense focus I got throughout the whole hackathon allowed me to complete such ana amazing project is something that I am very proud of. There were times where I was stuck on an issue (such as API issues) for multiple hours but I never gave up the dedication and commitment. I am very proud that I have completed this with hard work and rigorous determination throughout.

What we learned

I gained important knowledge about the significance of user-centric design during our journey in creating the Global Synergy Network. Working alone, I learned how much commitment and determination is needed to drive invention and problem-solving.

What's next for Global Synergy Network

Next I am actually really invested and I am planning to open the app to public and see what community it can build. Get some feedback and hopefully, with more time on hand, improve the API systems and integrations inside of the network. I plan for it to succeed and become a well known platform for all NPOs and Innovators to come together and collaborate for a better tomorrow!
