Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was that we wanted to make sure our login information was easily accessible, but also secure at the same time.

What it does

Password Secure saves inputting information to a file locally on your computer. This is a different approach to saving it in your browser where it is more accessible to hackers and bad people.

How we built it

We built it using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The main form control and functionality of the file creation are made using javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Since this is the first Chrome Extension we made, we ran into troubles mostly regarding scripting and making the UI look decent. We also ran into troubles with file encryption and decryption but we spent a lot of time and couldn't figure it out so we scrapped the idea as a whole.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to create a decent-looking Chrome Extension with good functionality even though it was our first time doing so. We are also newer developers and this is only our second hackathon so even though we know this isn't our best project, we're still proud of it.

What we learned

The main thing we learned is how to make a Chrome Extension, but we learned different concepts in javascript as well as different styling methods in CSS.

What's next for Password Secure

We are hoping to publish this on the Chrome Web Store, but also publish it as an add-on to other browsers such as Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.
