Inspiration
I love to cook and am often using apps like Paprika to save the recipes I find. I thought it would be fun to create a dapp like Paprika, but add in the functionality to see other users' recipes as well.
What it does
In its current form, nothing.
How we built it
I tried to build it in Svelte, but I was getting confused by the web3 technologies, so I switched to vanilla javascript and html to better focus on the blockchain tech.
Challenges we ran into
I had a really hard time understanding how to use the various blockchain and web3 frameworks and I struggled with the encryption processes. I had to start over a lot, and eventually ran out of time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I got to the point that I could create smart contracts with truffle and ganache. I really struggled with hardhat and gun.js. I had to scrap several databases along the way due to encryption mistakes. I finally got it with ganache.
What we learned
Blockchain was entirely new to me, as were dapps. I don't care for the blockchain, but the idea of decentralizing processing and storage is fascinating to me. I also learned a lot about encryption
What's next for Global Kitchen
I am going to study web3 and take some courses on using the blockchain and encryption. After I get a solid foundation built, I am going to rebuild the app and get it ready for a production deployment.
