The fact that there is no specific search engine or proactive media for worldwide health news and updates.
What it does
It collects and utilizes health domain data from multiple sources in text format to provide a search engine for healthcare data, and also provides multiple services falling in the medical domain. Services include disease spread updates, medical product news and latest medical research information.
How we built it
We used APIs and Web Scraping to collect data. Processing of the text data is done using Natural Language Processing, which a branch of AI. Information Extraction for providing various services is done using Machine Learning and NLP.
Challenges we ran into
Collecting Data from adequate source. Running models with limited GPU capacity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Applying AI for Information Retrieval and Information Extraction in healthcare domain meaningfully.
What we learned
I learnt that NLP and Machine Learning can be applied for numerous tasks in the HealthCare domain to enhance the domain and showcase new hidden insights. This can be done well over the text data. With one day effort if basic accuracy can be achieved, then a long project can do very well with extensive list of features.
What's next for Global Healthcare Overview Platform
A lot of improvements in the already existing services that provide information about disease spread, medical product news and latest medical research works. Moreover, easy addition of many other features like disease growth trend, medical products market analysis and mapping technologies with research works.
