• Help people explore Houston's diverse and delicious food scene
• Incentivizes venue owners to improve food safety

How it's used

Houstonians and visitors search for venues based on either address or phone location. Venues with the best safety records are prioritized. Users can also see how the venue rates on crowd-sourced rating sites like Yelp.

How it works

We use the City of Houston's health inspection data for food safety ratings. We're relying upon the Yelp API for pictures, and a secondary rating metrics. Location searching uses Esri's location finding tools.

Opportunities to expand

• Allow citizens to directly report concerns to the health inspectors office via the app
• Pull in data from Harris County Health Inspections
• Companion application to allow health inspectors to input data during inspections
