what inspired you?
my love for aviation & flight inspired me to build this app, the truth is with out airports, we would not have planes and the world would of not transformed and connected. Speed needs direction, airports are the direction for planes.
what you learned?
Our app transforms a static list of the world’s airports into an interactive exploration dashboard. Users can filter by country, airport type, or elevation, view extreme airports, and discover patterns in aviation infrastructure. The combination of global maps, distribution charts, and KPIs tells a compelling story about how airports connect the world.
How I built it ?
I built this project using Plotly Studio and manually edited the Python code to fine tune every detail. While Vibe Coding made the process smooth and visual, I still had to make several adjustments to get everything working perfectly inside the dashboard environment.
Challenges I ran into ?
One of the biggest challenges was understanding how Dash Design Kit works and integrating my own Python logic into its structure. Debugging layout and callback issues also tested my patience but each fix made me a better problem-solver.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of ?
I’m proud to have completed my first hackathon, and even prouder to share this project with the aviation community. It represents not just data visualization, but also my passion for connecting technology and flight.
What I learned ?
Our app transforms what was once a static dataset of the world’s airports into a fully interactive exploration dashboard. Users can filter by country, airport type, or elevation; identify extreme airports; and uncover patterns in aviation infrastructure. Through global maps, distribution charts, and KPIs, we tell a compelling story of how airports shape global connectivity.
What's next for Global Airport Explorer ?
Next, I plan to expand the app by integrating live weather data, real-time airport conditions, and community sharing features. My goal is to make it a platform where aviation professionals and enthusiasts alike can explore, learn, and connect.
