Glint - Highlight Journal

I am always a big fan of writing down key events and memories that happen during a year. This allows me to reflect back on each year, recognize what I’ve achieved, and see how impactful the year has been on my life. I’m not a big fan of writing in a journal on a daily basis, but I love capturing the important moments.

What it does

Glint is an easy-to-use iOS app for capturing your year’s highlights and tracking personal metrics. It helps you remember and reflect on life's standout moments.

Effortless Memory Keeping Life moves fast, but Glint makes it simple to pause and savor the good times. With just a few taps, you can record highlights big and small, ensuring no special moment slips through the cracks.

Rich, Vibrant Memories Don't just write it down—bring your memories to life! Attach a photo, location, or URLs to your highlights, creating a vivid tapestry of your experiences.

Organize Your Way Glint adapts to your life. Create custom categories to sort your highlights, making it a breeze to relive specific types of memories whenever you want.

How we built it

I had this idea for a long time, but it was not until a month ago that I realised it shouldn’t be a list but a circle because each year is a lap around the sun. I quickly made the basic layout in black and white, and when I felt like all basic functionality was in place, it was time to polish the UI. I wanted to do a few things differently, and challenging myself made it extra fun. The goal is also to bring some good old skeuomorphic design back here and there for extra vibrant and fun .

Challenges we ran into

I think the biggest challenge was to get the 3D plus object to work and feel as expected. Also trying to keep the UI for creating memories as simple as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m really proud of how the app looks and feels in such a short time and for every app, I’m excited for the future!

What we learned

I’ve really learned how to work with RevenueCat also using some new frameworks like JournalingSuggestions gave a lot of fun challenges.

What's next for Glint - Highlight Journal

What’s next is better AppIntents and support for Apple Intelligence! After that I want to allow the user to share memories and also get a year recap at the end of the year!
