Inspiration

I live near Glendale, where many patients speak Armenian or Spanish and are not comfortable in English. Interpreters are not always available and phone apps are not clinic-friendly.

What it does

TalkBridge is a kiosk web app that shows live captions and one-tap translation between English, Armenian, and Spanish. It works both ways for patient and staff, with big readable text, high contrast and pause or rewind. Privacy first by default and export only with consent.

How I built it

I made a simple frontend with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and simulated streaming text from a local JSON file. Planning notes are in Confluence and I prepared a short slide deck.

Challenges

I had to keep the UI clear from 6–8 feet and make Armenian text render well on all devices. I also scoped features tightly to fit a one-day build.

What’s next

Add real speech-to-text and translation with medical quick phrases, plus Supabase export after consent. Integrate my ASL translator project and try a small pilot at a Glendale clinic.
