Inspiration -
As students, we needed a platform that could help us manage our time effectively, gain insights into our productivity, track every job application effortlessly, and organize tasks in a structured way. This inspired us to create Goalden, an all-in-one solution that addresses these needs.
What it does -
Goalden is a comprehensive productivity tool that combines a Pomodoro timer, a job search portal, a job application tracker, a to-do list, and goal-setting features. It allows users to manage their time, monitor their job hunt, organize their tasks, and stay on top of their goals—all in one place.
How we built it -
We built Goalden using the MERN stack—React, Express, Node, and MongoDB Atlas. For AI capabilities, we integrated Claude AI 3.5 Sonnet Anthropics, providing smart insights and assistance throughout the platform. We used Auth0 for secure authentication, ensuring that users’ data and activities are protected.
Challenges we ran into -
As a two-member team, it was a race against the clock to brainstorm, implement, and bring our vision to life. Incorporating machine learning features was particularly challenging due to our limited ML knowledge, but with guidance from mentors, we adopted the ideal methodologies for our use case. Managing time effectively to deliver an end-to-end application was another hurdle we overcame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of -
We’re proud to have built an application that matches the vision we started with, delivering a tool that genuinely helps students manage their daily live starting with us ❤️.
What we learned -
We got to leverage our full-stack development skills and gained valuable insights into AI/ML concepts. The experience allowed us to push beyond our comfort zones, expanding our knowledge and capabilities.
What's next for Goalden -
In the future, we plan to introduce a leaderboard system to make productivity tracking more engaging, along with a productivity calculator to gamify the experience. We aim to offer more personalized weekly analysis insights and implement a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) model to extract valuable insights from users' to-do lists and activities.
