Inspiration
Do you ever find yourself in the skincare aisle, unsure of what products you’re actually looking at? Are they the right ones for you, or will they sit on your shelf unused? Maybe you don’t know where to begin at all because there’s so much out there! We want to make skincare simple for everyone, so you don’t waste your time and money on products that aren’t right for you.
What it does
Glambot is your personal skincare guide. Just answer a quick survey with questions about your skin type and concerns and Glambot does the rest. Glambot will suggest a selection of products for every step of your routine, so you can pick the ones you love and save them for later. It will then curate your personal routine that you can save, including clear information about what each step does, so you're never just following instructions blindly. If you’re still not sure where to start or want to explore, we have a discovery page that lets you browse products at your own pace. Each product has information including customer reviews, skin type compatibility, and everything you need to make an informed choice.
Our website stands out against competitors like OnSkin, SkinPal AI, and ALL SKIN by helping you understand what each step in your routine is for, not just what to buy.
How we built it
We used Figma to help us develop our prototypes and create our designs for the website. For the frontend, we built the UI using React JS.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues refocusing our idea into an easy user flow for customers to navigate our educational skincare website.
We simplified our ideas for the website, and made it a consistent easy process from start to end where users put in their preferences and leave with a set routine they can edit at any time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
None of us had prior experience with React and being new to hackathons, yet within 48 hours we went from strangers to a cohesive development team. Every member successfully built and contributed at least one page to the website. We managed our workflow entirely through GitHub, working across feature branches and navigating merge conflicts without losing a single line of anyone's work. We're proud not just of the product we built, but of how we built it - collaboratively, carefully, and creatively.
What we learned
We have learnt the importance of branches on GitHub for our features. We have learnt how to use react and launch a website using a new language - npm start. We have collectively learnt how to merge conflicts, use VScode terminal, Github pull requests, and keyboard shortcuts.
What's next for GlamBot
To help us accomplish our future features such as, having links to the merchant's website and nearby locations. We would need to integrate API to have maps and the merchant details to show up on our website's product descriptions An even more personalised survey to really understand the user and help in structuring an ideal skin care routine within any budget limitations. Additionally, with the use of an AI assistant, we would be able to allow users to get instant help and direct users to where they can go.
