Inspiration

Usually when I see the items that are left for donation are not in good condition and sometimes even some charities are need for some things that they are not able to fulfill. So, I decided to create this app that allows users to input their things that they wish to donate in their near by charities.

What it does

It takes the user input and then posts it to the near by charity using this charity receive the things they need and the user receives points and certificates for their good work. User-Friendly Interface: Givy offers a simple and intuitive user interface, designed to make donating items as easy as possible. Upon logging in, users are greeted with a welcoming home page that introduces them to the platform’s purpose and guides them through the donation process. Upload and List Donations: Users can easily upload items they wish to donate by providing images and descriptions. This feature enables charities to see what items are available and make requests or accept items directly from donors. Location-Based Matching: One of Givy’s standout features is its ability to match users with nearby charities that need the specific items they are donating. This feature uses location data to minimize transportation efforts, making it more environmentally friendly and convenient for both donors and charities. Track Donation Status: Once an item is accepted by a charity, users can track the delivery of their donations in real time. The platform provides updates on the status of the donation, from pick-up to delivery, ensuring full transparency for both donors and recipients. Reward System: To encourage repeat donations, Givy rewards users with points for each item donated. These points accumulate over time, and users can earn badges and certificates based on their donation milestones. This gamified approach not only recognizes the users’ contributions but also motivates them to continue donating. Mobile-Responsive Design: Givy is built with a mobile-responsive design, ensuring users can access the platform from any device, whether it’s a desktop, tablet, or smartphone. This flexibility makes it easier for users to donate on-the-go or whenever it’s convenient for them.

How we built it

I use html, css, javascript for the front end development and created a program which is a website then converted it into an app.

Challenges we ran into

I think coding was difficult however I learnt some basics through chat gpt and w3school to create a website and host.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of that I was able to create almost the portion of an app however I wish to progress further and make it better.

What we learned

I learnt a lot during this course of time.
