Giving Stage is a virtual venue where musical artists and charities team-up to raise awareness and money for important causes. Artists perform live for fans who have donated to the cause in exchange for a "ticket" to watch the event. It is currently a consumer-facing mobile-optimized web application, but would likely eventually include native apps to improve the live-streaming and interactive fan experience.
This app demonstrates the use of Salesforce and ExactTarget "in the wild". Every transactional email in the system is sent via ExactTarget's Fuel APIs. Each donor and donation is captured into any Force.com account configured with the "Non-profit Starter Pack". These integrations will be invaluable to our future nonprofit partners, allowing them to engage their supporters and donors using the power of Salesforce.
The idea was born out of a clear business-need. Nonpofit organizations spend far too much time and energy fundraising -- time that would be much better spent on their core mission (i.e., saving the world). Giving Stage can help by providing using the visceral power of music to deliver a consistent stream of cause-supporters and donors.
It is our hope to turn this project into a company with the goal of helping nonprofits to raise awareness and money for important causes. Winning the $1M prize would allow us to begin working on this project full-time.
