GiveSafe is a social venture that distributes electronic “beacons” (about the size of a quarter) to individuals in need, through nonprofit homeless shelters. These tiny beacons create an incredibly efficient way to help someone advance their life.

If you have the GiveSafe app and pass by or meet a beacon holder, you'll receive a simple notification with the opportunity to give or learn of the person's journey.

Should you choose to give, the beacon holder can then spend the money at partnered merchants or through a nonprofit counselor on things that they truly need (warm clothing, transportation, a good haircut, and more).

Each month, the beacon holder has the opportunity and responsibility each month to meet with a counselor at a partnered shelter. The counselor helps them gauge progress, develop spending plans, and access new opportunities. These touchpoints result in new relationships, plus actionable data for the city and other service providers.

With homelessness as costly as it is to cities (est. $30k/person/year), GiveSafe is first proving its effectiveness to the city of Seattle (current traction and revenue), before licensing its platform to communities across the US who are losing the battle against homelessness.
