Inspiration

Food waste is a prevalent problem in Singapore. At the end of each day, we see bakeries with stacks of leftover bread, with no destination. How can we help leftover food find new life before it expires?

Solution

FoodHeroes connect Food Establishments with Food Heroes so that leftover food has a chance to be collected by Organisations to minimise food wastage!

Description

Donators can upload their leftover food onto the FoodHeroes platform. Note that donators have to fill in certain details of the food before it can be posted onto the platform. This is so that crucial information such as food expiry can be noted before consumption, this feature could be further developed in future to show proof of expiry before the post is pushed to the platform itself. Volunteers are then able to select from the food options on the app that best meets their organisation’s needs to pick up and deliver the food.
