Inspiration
We are a group of young people worried about the living conditions in the Post Pandemic era. The Covid-19 lockdown is expected to leave its stigma in people and their mentality. It is expected that the world (especially the countries or areas which have been severely affected by the coronavirus) will have to deal with a surge of people who lost their jobs due to businesses cessation, those who lost their loved ones because of the virus, people in depression due to the extended quarantine period etc.).
Our application, Give4All, will be based on service exchange while the customer will also be a volunteer. In this way, people who ask and apply for services feel that they cover their needs at a high level and at the same time they are useful to others through offering.
The idea is to create an application for each area or neighbourhood which has been severely affected by the coronavirus and will give access to these people to exchange services ,create new social relationships and deal with mental issues within their community. Building strong relationships can also help confront similar situations in the future.
What it does
It brings together people in need. Help them cooperate in a very productive way.
How we built it
Concerning services we focus on house cleaning, gardening, taking your pet for a walk, delivering shopping from the supermarket, delivering medicine to elderly.
Young people who are starting their career this period of time will get an excellent opportunity to find new customers and gain more experiences. A wide range of services will be provided by psychologists, psychiatrists, dietitians, trainers and career counsellors.
Give4all is a software that can be accessed through different electronic devices (mobile phones, laptops or tablets). A registration form will be completed by people in need. They will be asked to pay a small amount of money to the appropriate professional and at the same time he or she will be asked to offer one of the services mentioned above voluntarily to another member of the platform (another customer).
Initially, our fund sources are going to come from EU sponsorships and governmental schemes. These financial resources are going to cover the creation of the platform and give initiatives to new professionals taking part in this project.
In the beginning, free advertising such as the use of Google Business tool is going to give as the chance to decrease advertising expenses required for our platform's creation. For the first 6 months the services are going to be offered totally free for everyone. After the six month's period a small amount of money (10 euros) will be given to each professional for the service (s)he has offered.
Since the whole idea of the project is based on an altruistic basis , customers unwilling to offer voluntarily to their community are not going to be accepted by the administrators of the platform.
How are we going to check if the service is going to be offered by the members successfully? By requesting online feedback from the receiver of the service!
What is more....
Services within the professionals and the members of the platform are going to be given anonymously!
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges faced by our group were:
1) How the initial funding could cover the expenses of the creation of the platform. 2) Assessing whether the services were successfully delivered to the other members of the platform.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
Being able to co-operate successfully with unknown people through a virtual connection only. Reaching a common solution to our problem in such a short period of time and submitting our project within the deadline. Exceeding our limits by using new tools and software we were not familiar with.
What we learned
Working under the veil of a team spirit. Learning new things about how to work on a project focusing on social anxieties and necessities. Improving our cooperation skills.
What's next for Give4all
Approach young people who would like to gain practical experience through our platform. Request legal advice as to the collection of data from the members and their validation. Think of future features to make the platform accessible to more people in need.
