Inspiration

We were inspired by our experience as students at UCR, as many of our classes involve version control, usually through GitHub, and oftentimes it quickly becomes a mess during group projects to clean up.

What it does

This is a simple CYOA-type game based on the Henry Stickmin series, except it revolves around the theme of CS100 and version control.

How we built it

We storyboarded our ideas and created assets through both drawing and using stock images that we found online. We used Unity to build the game, and used GIMP as well as Pixquare in order to create our assets.

Challenges we ran into

It turns out that coding logic for videogames is very complicated. Being able to reuse certain cutscenes proved more challenging than expected, as making sure the visuals meshed well with the logic system, as we wanted a visual representation of paths you tried to dynamically grow as you went deeper into the game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create a lot of content in a short amount of time, especially considering that sdfjsdf. We coded the entire logic system from scratch, including the ability for choices to have unique effects depending on previous choices, cutscenes and more.

What's next for GitTheForkOut

We have plans and a storyboard for a continuation of the story.
