Inspiration
As a CS student, I've watched friends lose job opportunities because their GitHub profiles looked "inactive" - even though they were grinding LeetCode and building projects daily. In today's brutal tech job market, recruiters judge your GitHub in seconds. A broken streak or sparse activity can instantly signal "lazy developer." I built GitMaxing so talented students don't miss opportunities over something this fixable.
What it does
GitMaxing automatically maintains your GitHub contribution streak with smart, scheduled commits. Your profile stays green and active even during finals, job hunting, or when working on non-GitHub projects.
How we built it
React frontend, Node.js backend, GitHub API integration. Secure OAuth login connects to your repos, automated scheduling handles the commits, and smart timing makes everything look natural.
Challenges we ran into
Making automated commits look authentic, not robotic. Also navigating GitHub's API limits while ensuring the tool doesn't mess with your real development work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built something CS students actually need. Fellow students are already using GitMaxing to keep their profiles active during stressful periods when coding takes a backseat but impressions still matter.
What we learned
Small problems need simple solutions. Also gained deep experience with GitHub's API and building tools developers actually want to use.
What's next for GitMaxing
Adding contribution analytics, portfolio integration, and team features. Goal: make this the go-to tool for CS students who refuse to let an inactive GitHub hurt their job prospects.
