Inspiration

Managing a flood of project issues and code reviews can quickly overwhelm development teams. We wanted to build a solution that helps developers instantly get the right context, automate boring manual tasks, and prioritize work efficiently right inside GitLab.

What it does

GitLab SmartFlow AI is an intelligent assistant built on the GitLab Duo Agent Platform. It automatically analyzes new issues, understands their context, assigns appropriate tags/labels, and provides the developer with a step-by-step guideline or starting hints to fix the problem faster.

How we built it

We designed the logical flow using the GitLab Duo Agent Platform and analyzed repository dynamics using GitLab's AI capabilities. The agent interacts with issue descriptions and code context to orchestrate structured actions.

Challenges we faced

Since we are building and managing the architecture primarily via mobile interfaces, structuring the workflow parameters and ensuring precise context injection without a heavy local setup was a challenging yet exciting constraint.

What we learned

We learned how powerful context-aware AI agents can be when integrated directly into the DevOps lifecycle, and how GitLab Duo simplifies complex orchestration tasks.
