Inspiration
I came to this hackathon wanting to expand my front-end development skills. I asked around and people recommended me to check out the React framework from Facebook. I was undecided whether to try Angular 2 or React but after doing some light research I decided upon React. This project was more of a learning experience and was completed following online tutorials.
What it does
You enter two Github usernames and it compares them using an algorithm, assigns a numeric score, and finally declares a winner.
How I built it
I built it using the React framework and its respective ecosystem. (Babel, Webpack, JSX)
Challenges I ran into
The initial setup of the React project was difficult to understand and time-consuming at first. After reading a few tutorials on Webpack and Babel I was able to put the pieces together and understand the purpose of each component.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I was able to learn the essential concepts and nuisances of an awesome framework during a hackathon and now look forward to becoming more proficient and making sophisticated single-page applications.
