GITGOOD
Inspiration
Creating something fun out of a tool we already use.
What it does
The VSCode Extension finds information about the user's current GitHub repository and presents their statistics on the side. The statistics are altered to provide users "points" for actions such as commits and pull requests.
How we built it
We used Typescript and Javascript on VS Code to build this IDE Extension.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into quite a few challenges. None of us were familiar with VS Code. That led to a large time loss. Additionally, our original idea was an idea that was already implemented and accessible. Hence, we had to change our idea about 6 hours into the Hackathon. Finally, a lot of us were having technical difficulties during the Hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to figure the IDE out. Also, we were able to present some of the statistics although we could not achieve what we wanted.
What we learned
We learned a lot. We were able to get familiar with VS Code. We also learned how to build an extension in VS Code.
What's next for GitGood
We plan on building the software outside of the Hackathon for fun.
