Inspiration
I wanted to shatter the boundaries of human anatomy, diving into the macabre with a vision of a woman splitting open her flesh to unveil a galaxy within; a twisted fusion of body horror and cosmic awe, sparked by the urge to probe the limits of life’s hidden depths.
What it does
It unveils a haunting spectacle: A woman in a sterile hospital bed, her body surgically parted to reveal swirling stars pulsing to warped cosmic beats, her form a gateway to another dimension where flesh and cosmos collide in surreal, unsettling splendor.
How we built it
I tapped the 20,000+ AI image cache of the enigmatic woman across Sandglass’s 50 folders to keyframe a storyboard of seamless curiosity.
Challenges we ran into
The tightrope was brutal: Balancing mass appeal with the urge to plunge deeper into grotesque extremes. Dozens of raw, visceral frames, pulsing organs, cosmic embryos, were axed to avoid alienating viewers, a restraint that stung when I knew the tech could scream louder.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
Cracking open a human form to unveil a universe and making it resonate felt like dark magic. The delicate dance of discipline and audacity landed a video that’s both accessible and unnervingly bold, a testament to threading the needle between shock and wonder.
What we learned
Feedback’s the final teacher; this video’s a litmus test for how far I can push. Holding back on visceral extremes (gushing innards, embryonic voids) was a gamble; some may call it tame, others too wild. Either way, I’ve learned to wield restraint as a blade, sharpening the impact of what’s shown—and what’s left unseen.
What’s next for Girlwork
I’m sitting on a powder keg of bolder visuals: organs throbbing, dimensions birthing, if the crowd craves more edge, I’ll unleash it. For now, restraint’s the play, but Sandglass’s sprawl leaves room to go galactic or grotesque next time.
