Inspiration

I craved to push primal fear to its edge; pairing a woman’s unflinching gaze with a spider skittering across her face, tapping into raw, skin-crawling dread to craft a nightmare that lingers like a shadow you can’t shake.

What it does

It unleashes a chilling spectacle: A spider dances across a woman’s face, her eyes locked on yours as she shift to unhinged giggling twisting the terror into a hypnotic blend of defiance and deranged glee.

How we built it

I tapped the 20,000+ AI image cache of the enigmatic woman across Sandglass’s 50 folders to keyframe a storyboard of seamless curiosity.

Challenges we ran into

The audio was a beast; stem separation turned mushy, with vocals and instruments bleeding like a bad wound, unlike the usual clean splits. Salvaging it demanded surgical edits in post, forcing me to lean hard on visual creep to carry the track’s fractures.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

Nailed the vibe: A high hit ratio on video renders delivered that gut-punch horror, especially when her stoic stare cracks into unhinged giggles, a moment so raw it’s a blueprint for future chills, proving a single expression shift can flip fear into fascination.

What we learned

Spiders are a cheat code for creep, even mangled renders still ooze menace, making them a low-effort win for eerie effects. Messy legs or glitchy skitters? Doesn’t matter; the terror holds, freeing up focus for emotional beats over pixel-perfect bugs.

What’s next for Girlwork

With Sandglass’s 50 tracks brimming with untapped stories, this creepy gem’s just the start. If Spotify and Apple spins surge, I’m doubling down: more videos, darker vibes, maybe even nastier critters. The web’s only begun to weave.
