Inspiration
GirlTalk was inspired by the shock of our team members when we realized how little companies encourage diversity and women empowerment in their workplaces.
What it does
GirlTalk helps, motivates, and advocates for women and their needs in the workplace. Users can also anonymously advise their managers/coworkers on any changes that they feel the workspace needs. GirlTalk was created to allow more open communication between employees.
How we built it
We collaboratively coded GirlTalk with Replit using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Occasionally along the way, we used some help intelligent mentors.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges such as being stuck on how to code certain items and the general display and user interface of our site. We wanted it to be as aesthetically pleasing and as welcoming as possible, and I believe the warm pink colors really add to the glam of it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are super proud of all the things that have come out of GirlTalk. We learned new things, met new people, and created an amazing website with a lot of hard work, effort, and determination. One specific thing I am proud of is creating a user input form and a button, considering none of us have ever used HTML.
What we learned
We learned many things such as how to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also learned about how to use Replit, the different issues in the workplace, and about each other!
What's next for GirlTalk
In the future, we plan to add a direct messaging feature in case managers want to discuss more in depth with other users.
