Inspiration

Our project was inspired by the desire to highlight and recognize women who have made significant contributions to STEM but remain underrecognized. We aim to inspire younger girls by showcasing these impactful figures.

What it does

Girls Who Create is a website featuring a timeline of eight influential women in STEM. Each entry includes the woman's name, birthplace, and a brief biography. Users can click a button to visit their Wikipedia page for more information.

How we built it

We developed the website using React for the front-end, with Node.js handling the back-end operations. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were used to create an engaging and aesthetic user experience.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was ensuring the website was both informative and visually appealing to engage young users effectively. We also worked on integrating external links seamlessly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating an educational platform that serves as both an inspiration and a learning tool for young girls. Successfully combining aesthetics with functionality was a key achievement.

What we learned

We learned how to effectively use React and Node.js to build an interactive web application. Additionally, we gained insights into designing educational content that appeals to younger audiences.

What's next for Girls Who Create

Next, we plan to expand our timeline with more women from diverse backgrounds and fields. We also aim to add interactive features and partner with educational institutions to reach more young learners.
