Inspiration

As a teacher trainee interested in AI and machine learning, I saw that many primary school students in Kenya struggle with English literacy due to language barriers and lack of localized learning tools.

What it does

Gikuyu Literacy Buddy helps students learn English vocabulary through their native Kikuyu language, with interactive practice and quizzes.

Resource-constrained computing principles ## Challenges we ran into Since I was alone, I faced teh challenge of multitasking getting the data as fit as posible and also get the technical part Lack of enough kikuyu toEnglis translation words since I was not able to get my bibile api working. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of Im proud that I was able to understand how to use gradio in my hugging face project I was also also able to follow relevant documentations to fulfill my project better. As a prompt engineer, I was also able to improve on my prompting skills with relevant examples from different cookbooks on qwen-3 coder. ## What we learned I leanrt that viibe checks are relevant to AI models like qwen-3 coder and also on bolt to get my best feedback. I also learned that refferencing to different documentations is good to mkae sure a project works, this can range from github repos to open ai cookbook. ## What's next for Gikuyu Literacy Buddy I'm thinking of getting more words to my project and also make a front end project.
