GigHub

GigHub is a Tartanhacks 2018 project created by Aneek Mukherjee, Emmanuel (EJ) Eppinger, Eugene Luo, and Conlon Novak.

The Idea and Features

Inspired by Eugene's struggles with logistics and planning in pursuit of his favorite artists performing at music venues across the east coast, our app combines artist event information from SongKick, venue images from Bing image search, travel information from Google Maps, and links to a number of lodging and transportation options via AirBnb, Uber, and Lyft, among others.

How we built it

The site was created with HTML, Bootstrap, Python, and Flask, and will soon be hosted on Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Designed Gighub's user experience, visual identity, logo, and color scheme, as well as worked to improve the CSS and presentation of information. Emulated the feel of a much larger website via aspects of the search results page and interactive elements throughout the site.

Conlon Novak
Developer, designer, analyst, and consultant, with a focus on social impact. CMU MHCI 2020. He/him. All opinions are my own.
I wrote the entire foundation of the front-end and the original CSS formatting and style. I also built up the backend from EJ and Eugene's foundation code. This was my first time developing for the Web and I learned a lot about how websites are built and connected!
