gigaMAP

gigaMAP is a port scanner inspired by the NMAP scanner that returns any open ports on a network that takes in a website URL or an IP address as a parameter and returns open ports and the ports status.

Inspiration

We we're inspired to create gigaMAP from the NMAP port scanner and decided to create our own version.

What it does

gigaMAP scans ports of a website or IP address and returns the open ports as well as port status.

How we built it

We built this project completely through Go, we also utilized ASCII art libraries for the banner.

Challenges we ran into

A huge challenge we ran into was deciding what to do. We scrapped our previous ideas almost 12 hours into the hackathon. We spent 5 hours on our first idea which ended up failing, and 6 hours on our second idea which also ended up failing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud that we were able to push through adversity and fail several times but learn from each mistake and build a better project.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how Go works as well as port functions as well as how to master the CLI and work together to make a project we're proud of.

What's next for gigaMAP

Hopefully we can add more functionality than port scanners and make gigaMAP a complete dev tool. Next, we shall intern at Warp!!!!! (Hopefully...)
