We initially came together around a love of coding Rails and passion for the Bitcoin space. We looked into utilizing bitcoin's multisignature technology to approve joint transactions between a couple, a parent and a child, or an employer and employee more efficient. During our research we found that was already being implemented by the startup Bitpay, so we decided to pivot.
We came to the conclusion that buying things as a group was still a very difficult issue that no one has yet tackled well. Wouldn't it be nice to develop a way for friends to come together online and buy gifts on special occasions like birthdays and graduations?
Our target user are those who use gift registries, whether for weddings or baby showers, and expanding that market to include peopled aged 16-25 who use Facebook events to organize for birthday celebrations. We are most proud of how we have been able to reimagine the Tindr interface as a voting mechanism to help individuals make group decisions to buy the best gift (screenshot below). In addition, we are proud of our attempt at making the interface on mobile and cross-platform.
