Every birthday is special! So, we wanted to make something that can help you choose gifts for your special ones.
What it does
It solves the issue of overspending on gifts in an effort to show love and appreciation for the other person. Our application ensures that the user does not go over the budget, and connects directly with amazon to provide a seamless shopping experience.
How we built it
We were a team of 2. Devansh handled the backend and planning part, whereas Sugato handled the frontend and designing part.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered a bunch of challenges. The first challenge we faced was, how to work properly without jumping into unnecessary conflicts. Another challenge was Amazon Web Scrapping which we have successfully implemented. We also encountered significant tracebacks but we can proudly say we managed all!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is was our second hackathon and first-ever duet hackathon. One person handling the backend and the other person handling the frontend was slightly concerning to us at first. Each one of us had no help to correct mistakes or suggest features. We are proud of our skills & abilities, that we could build a working project from scratch!
What we learned
We learned how to build responsive designs, do web scrapping from scratch, resolve conflicts, and yes, how much teamwork and coffee are needed. Apart from that, we also learned how to resolve our own issues, manage time as well as the importance of dedication.
What's next for GiftHub
We are planning to implement personalized birthday reminders. In the backend part, we are also thinking of incorporating Machine Learning. In the frontend part, we are planning to add some great frameworks!
